The FCSS Teachers College Internship Program

The FCSS Teachers College Internship Program serves as an alternative certification pathway for individuals aspiring to enter the teaching profession. Designed to address critical teacher shortages in Fresno County, our internship program offers coursework for the following credential areas: PK-3 Early Childhood Education Specialist Instruction, Multiple Subjects, Education Specialist: Mild/Moderate Support Needs (MMSN), and Education Specialist: Extensive Support Needs (ESN).

Our Internship program provides intern candidates with comprehensive, Commission-accredited pre-service coursework, year-long academic instruction, and access to invaluable resources and credentialing services. Additionally, participants receive technical assistance and personalized support, all aligned with the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP) and Teacher Performance Expectations (TPE). Intern teachers benefit from a robust support network that includes guidance from expert course instructors, field supervisors, cohort peers, and dedicated on-site mentors, ensuring a holistic and enriching experience.

In 2026, the FCSS Teachers College proudly welcomed its first cohort of intern teachers. Throughout this two-year program, intern teachers assume full-time teaching responsibilities as salaried "teachers of record" in their respective districts while completing coursework delivered in a flexible, blended format. This includes both in-person sessions at the Fresno County Office of Education in downtown Fresno and online learning, offering both flexibility and accessibility for busy professionals.
