At FCSS Teachers College, we are committed to cultivating the next generation of educators who are passionate about making a lasting impact on their students and communities. Our comprehensive internship program offers aspiring teachers a unique blend of hands-on experience, rigorous coursework, and continuous support from a community of experienced educators. Whether you are driven to teach in a traditional classroom setting or specialize in supporting students with diverse learning needs, our program provides the credentials and skills necessary to thrive in today’s dynamic educational landscape. We currently offer four teaching credentials to meet the varied needs of California’s schools:
PK-3 Early Childhood Education Specialist Instruction: The two year PK-3 Early Childhood Education Specialist Instruction Credential program is designed to prepare educators to teach children from pre-kindergarten through 3rd grade. This credential focuses on early childhood development, foundational literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional learning. Educators with this certification are equipped with specialized knowledge to support young learners' diverse needs and create developmentally appropriate learning environments in early educational settings.
Multiple Subject: The two year Multiple Subject Teaching Credential program prepares educators to teach all subjects in a self-contained classroom, typically in elementary schools (kindergarten through 6th grade). This credential equips teachers with the knowledge and skills to teach a broad range of subjects, including math, science, language arts, and social studies, to young learners while creating engaging and developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
Education Specialist: Mild Moderate Support Needs (MMSN): The two year Education Specialist Mild/Moderate Support Needs Credential program prepares educators to work with students who have mild to moderate learning or support needs, such as challenges with learning, attention, or cognitive functioning. This credential equips teachers with skills to provide individualized instruction, behavioral support, and accommodations in inclusive or specialized settings, helping students access the general education curriculum and achieve academic success.
Education Specialist: Extensive Support Needs (ESN): The two year Education Specialist Extensive Support Needs Credential program prepares educators to work with students who require significant support in areas such as communication, mobility, and daily living skills. This credential equips teachers with strategies to provide highly individualized instruction, assistive technology, and specialized services in inclusive or specialized settings, ensuring students have access to meaningful learning opportunities and can thrive academically and socially.
